Was just thinking that, but you can't stop the wheels of science.

Although the pressure during combustion will be increased, the cylinder pressure prior to that will still be higher due to the fact that the seperataion of the nitrous oxide happens way before the point of ignition as it only requires a temperature of 300degreesC to start the process. If it didn't there would be no increase in performance as there would be no time for the oxygen to mix with the additional fuel.

i don't know much about chemistry of combustion, but from what i've just quickly found on tinternet the nitrous breaks down and liberates the oxygen during combustion - before or during, doesn't really matter - cos i'm not sure you meant that when you said this though

i think i've put my point across well enough now and i stand by what i said in my last post - take it or leave it

2 Mins of digging found this,

"If this reaction occurs in the combustion chamber of an automobile, 3 moles of gas would be produced from 2 moles, providing an extra boost to the piston, as well as liberating more heat."

Well when the nitrous is injected into the engine, you get a 3rd more gas after heating, I`d call that pressure charging..

sorry am I missing something or is this blindingly obvious....
Nitrous is introduced into the intake system under pressure. It comes in a f*cking high pressure gas bottle for christ's sake.
It is still expanding as it enters the combustion chamber. It has to be.

Therefore increasing the charge pressure above ambient air pressure.

    Can we move on.

grammatically I reckon it would have to be "forcibly aspirated," which doesn't sound great.
