I'd never reaslised quite how the more vertical screen pillars were done, but reading this eBay auction, it says

It's a cut/shut job, big style, and I'm guessing this 2-door is a 2-door Audi 80 front end, like this...

, plus the usual quattro back end? Anyone know any different?

    Pic from auction:

The Dialnyx ones were a normal Coupe with about 10 inches taken out weren't they?

Ah, but that one is just a shortened Quattro (a huge project in itself). The screen rake is wrong still, as the SWB version has more vertical screen and the doors are different.

The one on eBay is presumably the correct method? But I've never seen it.

yes chris, i have a few friends who have shorty's, two of them are dialynx shortened coupe's one is a shortened coupe of unknown origin they all have the shallow screen rake, and then Roger Galvins genuine Audi Sport.

I know a guy up north that is building one, using the front of a 2 door audi 80 (imported from germany) and the rear of a coupe quattro, this gives the correct screen rake

when i worked at dialynx i helped make one, it was a coupe that had 30 cm removed from the cars roof and floor and so on, this was done just behind the doors then joddled(sp) edges for welding up and sealent, and an audi 80 screen and a pillars to create the correct screen angle was an option.

Awesome projects, I love the SWB.

And I've been in a real one, at full chat, up a rather long hill. So there.

yeah something like that, the problem the rally cars had was the turning circle was ****! some drivers had to 3 point turn them on road sections instead of chucking them around a hairpin

More down to a locked 4WD system without handbrake release for the rear drive?
