    Hi
Has anyone used solidworks to design any bits ?
i recently snagged a copy and have been playing about learning the program
Its pretty complicated but so far i have designed an engine mount for an R/C car i have always wanted (the mount not the car!)
I'm about to have a go at a flywheel
I'll post up a pic soon

    Steve

Use it most days. Takes a while to get your head around if you have been drawing in 2D for a while!

I cant figure out loads of stuff !
I guess it will take a while, having issues with trying to recreate a hole in 3 different places around a centre bore, evenly spaced, i am trying to use circular pattern but i'm obviously doing something wrong

That's the main problem I have with it, the placement of shapes. In autocad you just draw a line and move the shape point to point. In solidworks you need to use smart dimension to move them to the correct place. I still try and draw lines though. The. Just extrude cut the holes you want, obviously after you have made the extrude boss.
