hello, i have noticed when accelerating in my 2.0L 8v 95 concept tht when i reach to bout 5000rpm in first gear it sounds like its red lining!? and they rev meter saying it has another bit to go yet!? is there some kind of thing tht stops you from reving it hard? so protects you from damaging the engine or is there something wrong? . the engine has only got 63k on the clock, the last owner blew the original engine and replace it, the new engine sounds as sweet as it came out of the factory not a knock to hear! so wat culd be the problem!??

Do a search for 'MK3 rev limiter'. It seems to be a common enough problem.

Should rev to about 7000 I think is it AGG or 2e?

I can't go out and check mine it has ATF in the oil at the minute so don't want to be revving the tits off it!!!

if the timing is shot you won't hear a banging unless its totally foooked lol but it will go into 'limp mode' as the ECU knows its not right so won't let you rev the balls off it. A garage should be able to redo the timing for not a lot of half hour labour max

vwnutant,as you've just done the cambelt i'd check the valve/ignition timing is correct before you adjust the timing on the distributor.
