Are imports to be avoided re getting UK VW dealers to do work on them ?

And are residuals significantly less ?

If not, anyone got any good / bad experience of any of the internet based importers:
    - simpledeals
    - motorprovider
    - cars4charities
    - etc etc ??

Anyone had any experience of dealing with coast2coastcars.co.uk for sourcing a new GTI recently ?
They seem different in that they introduce you to a UK VW dealer and you order directly form them.
Discount is less than for an import, but probably worth it.

Or are the UK VW dealers really the best option for sourcing a new car ?

    Thanks in advance.

There should be no issue with warranties, however, im 99.9% certain you only get 2 years warranty on an import instead of 3 when buying from a uk dealership.

i bought mine as a import and had no probs with the dealer doing work on it apart from the fact my dealer is full of muppets . think of it this way if i bought a car from somerset and moved to wales what is the diffrence in the servicing ? and yes only 2 years warrenty but you can buy a 3rd year at the end of your 2nd year for around 300 from vw

SHouldn't be these days, but you must make sure its "UK Specification", even down to the little detail differences, otherwise it could unfairly be used against you when you come to trade it in. Also, once you have it at UK spec, it might be worth re-checking the prices. I believe brokers are also a good place to buy new cars and save money off the dealers. And its always worth a quick call to the dealer, to see if he can match/better the price.

    Deeds done.
Went for a "proper" UK spec from a main dealer in the end
    - he nearly matched the broker discount of 1200 from drivethedeal.com.
    Spec:
Diamond Black 5dr DSG with leather plus 18" wheels, winter pack, lux pack 2, multi function stgr wheel and USB connection in the arm rest.
Don't do much night driving so decided against the xenons.

Dealer knocked 500 quid off and threw in RTI and Autoglym for free.
Worth haggling when you're spending that much cash.

Predicted delivery date is 1st March ... perhaps !!!

A question about the USB port - salesman wasn't sure...
Anyone out there got one ?
Does it work with any MP3 player (via cable) or just the memory stick types ?
I've seen somewhere that a stick is provided with the car - is this the case, and if so how big is it ?
Will any memeory stick work or just VW supplied ones ?
