I now work at Bangor University's Botanic Garden and this unusual car turned up the other day. Had a chat with the guy who owned it and he said he had imported it himself from South Africa where they still make them!! He has had it converted to run on LPG so says it is really cheap to run!! He also said that he always gets asked about it wherever he goes. Only drawback is the high insurance cost as crappy UK insurers don't recognise the model and therefore load up the premiums!! Sort of looks like the MK1 Golf but not as pure..and I don't like the styling creases on the rear quarter panels!! Alpenweiss2
Not as uncommon as you may think. Loads of them in this country. The latest ones have Skoda or Polo dashboards/interiors. The factory even built a few with 20v engines a couple of years ago.
I nearly bought one of these when i was living in New Zealand I wish they did a 3 door model because i would import a brand new one with the Fabia Interior they do a City R model now
I had one of these brilliant little car, mine was one of the last in production of the CTi's I wished I had brought here with me when I moved.
If you do import one be careful of what age one you import as the newer ones are very hard to register. There is a guy on one of the other forum who has bought a 2005 Velociti & is having a lot of trouble getting it registered as it need safety reports. So its best to import a car that is 10+ years old.
