I dont suppose anyone know what kind of speed camera's are on the a68 road between Edinburgh and Darlington ??

I had over taken a car along a nice long stright road he was probably
doing about 50-55. Anyway after I had gotten back to my side of the
road I noticed the lines on the road by this time I was doing maybe
    70. Anyway I looked on my side of the road and didnt see any
camera so didnt brake. I also didnt want to brake hard because the car
behind me was still quite close. Anyway as I was comming out of the
speed trap I noticed the camera on the other side of the road and just
as I was leaving it it flashed me.

It was a grey box on the right hand side of the road, the other side of the camera was highly visable.

There were plenty of signs to be fair and the amount of cameras along that road is quite staggering [:s]

Ive heard some cameras will flash you from the front but they throw away the pictures if there on the other side of the road ?

Speed camera's CAN NOT detect how fast you're travelling if heading towards the mechanism.

This happened to me before and I can assure you that you'll be safe.

I'll go as far to say that if you get any fine regardless of how much for this single offence, I'll even pay for it!!!

Trust me - you're safe

I've heard differently about that, but purely dependant on the type of camera.

However, I happen to know that the A68 cameras are GATSO's (tons of em [:x] ) and I'm 100% sure you will not be done in a forward facing situation :)

On a different note I was using tomtom navigator through Edinburgh today for the first time and the warnings it gave for speed cameras and the likes helped me no end as I would have missed some of them otherwise.
I have used Road Angel in the past but that was far better although tomtom satnav has no laser detector of course.
    Excellent piece of kit.

Thanks guys, I do feel better now .... but will only be 100% after the 17days is up:)

I really don't mind speed camera's in 30's and when there are clear
dangers about just gets my goat when there along perfectly good roads. [:x]

Hi can anyone help? I was travelling on a68 towards Edinburgh overtaking a slow moving lorry, I was doing around 70 mph and a grey camera facing me flashed me? Am I going to get a speeding ticket! I think the road is 60mph I was on the other side of the road obviously at the time and it flashed twice at me. The camera flashed in front of me! Thanks

60 in a 70, yes. You might get away with the speed awareness course though.

Hi thank you for your response just been researching and it says as it’s a gatso camera the grey one! It can only take pictures as you travel away from it and not approaching it but it will still flash!
