spraying

    hi guys i want to respray the reg cover there r a few chips on it anybody know the best way to prep it ready for spraying

    yes, it covers the top of the reg, houses the reg lights

    if its a mk2 golf plastic cover that runs along the top of the numberplate... if it has not been sprayed before...

    180 grit paper until all the surface is smooth
    800 wet and dry to key surface
    spirit wipe to get rid of grease
    plastic primer 1 light coat every 5 mins 3 coats is enough
    leave 24hrs to dry at room temprature
    1200 to key surface
    spirit wipe to get rid of grease
    laquer 1 coat every 5 mins 3 coat is enough
    leave 24hrs to dry at room temprature
    polish with G10 hand glaze

    make sure you get underneath the plastic aswell where the lights go as the paint will slowly come off around this area if it is not painted.

    thanks phatmk2 for info but it has got paint on already what do i need to do to respray it how much of the colour do i have to get rid of? just one more thing when u say laquer 1 coat i persume the colour goes on first then the laquer, would this also be the same for an exterior mirror housing
