Always thought my golf felt like it wasn't going as fast as the Speedo read. Always thought I was speeding but felt slow.

Put the satnav on today and it read my speed as 10mph slower than the Speedo displays. Assuming it is the wheel size being wrong, what size should I have to ensure the Speedo is correct?

I mean silver lining I'm going slower than I thought so no risk of a speeding ticket at least!

13s were standard, and 14s were an option. Iirc.
Over reading speedometers are the norm.

what color/teeth count is the plastic speedo cable gear ? maybe you could swap it for different one to slow down your speedo gauge..

Not taken it apart to look, expect it's the standard one?

it could be someopne pulled the needle off and refitted incorrect, theres a '0mph' alignment mark you're supposed to point it at then lift over the speedo needle stop. though around 5mph slow across the range give or take is normal. to know what gear you need first check the gearbox code on the bottom as that then tells you what ratio diff you have, then we can advise the right gear to match. or use brokes handy site:
