I'm writing this post on the back of having
An intruder in my house a couple of days ago.our own fault admittedly.my daughter
Came in late 12ish we both thought the other had locked up.at 4.55 a.m my wife was woken by what she thought was my
Son "on the.move"toilet or whatever as she was awake she went toilet, came back to bed we all got up around 7.30 someone had been in.all cupboards emptied out in two rooms.front door to drive left open.
Forsenics have got prints and found blood spots on front door(must have been from a previous forced entry somewhere)some
Poor cctv images but not good quality.
Stay safe guys.check and check again
Dont have this happen to you.burglar didnt
    Get anything really.
At the time on drive was mk7 gti, mk5 gti
Passat tdi.and mk1 in garage.none were taken as the keys were all well hidden.

Sorry to hear this, horrible. Burglary is one of the worst crimes IMO. I'd wager that it was the cars they were after so well done for hiding the keys, a good lesson for everyone.

It's a 3 bedroom bungalow I live in he was literally in the next room to where we slept.
I dont live in a high crime area neither one of the best estates around but makes no difference scumbags are out there.
Changes are being made to front door so access is only possible with key.
Integrated pir flood light with camera and sd
Card that films when light is activated.
And a rounders bat in my room.
    Sad times really

There was electrical stuff they could easily have had but didnt bother.so I'm guessing it was only money, jewellery or/and car keys they were after but didnt they get any of the above.dont hold much hope if them being caught but the forensics( will add )to a future case hopefully.i know it could have been worse so counting my blessings.

Absolute filth they are - what's the law in the U.K. regarding defending your home/family/self from intruders? I do recall that the law was changed significantly in Ireland quite a few years ago in favour of the property owner.

In Lala land over here it's still on the intruders side which is despicable in my opinion - anyone that gains entry into someone else's home, should be subject to all active defense measures as taken by the property owner(s) in every jurisdiction across the globe.

I dont think in that situation most wouldnt give legality a second thought(and why should anyone)...it should be 100% on the burglar whatever they've got coming is deserved.
A true reality check on security for sure.
The feeling of violation is something
    Else.
    but it's a lesson learnt.

100% agreed - the fact that scumbags think it's acceptable to force entry into someone's home is beyond me. That was another reason why I bought the German Shepherd, between him, a collapsible baton, bear spray and shotguns, it would be advisable to move on from our home.

Sorry to hear not what you want any time of the year and especially not now when you may want to relax and chill out with family.

Good they didn't take your cars and hope nothing else of sentimental value was taken. Horrible experience :(

Police to be fair have been good.keeping us updated they are almost certain it's an individual well known to them.described to me as a "career criminal" but is carefull and never seems to leave much to go on.
So hes hoping the DNA and prints come up trumps as hes got previous convictions and been told he will almost certainly do time.
    Heres hoping.

Horrible to think someone has been though all your things while your were all in the house!.

I'm in two minds with the car keys, a chap not far away from us got beaten up in his own bedroom to get the keys for his Audi and BMW, is it worth less hastle and just letting insurance deal deal with it.

Glad to hear family is ok, all that matters when it comes down to it.

We recently got CCTV and a security alarm as my other half is paranoid about us getting burgled.

Glad you are all safe though.

But never seems to leave much evidence.
    His.luck will run out.
Anyway enough of that.some changes are coming for more security.
And I bought myself this to cheer me up.
