Just got my car back from service and been told the bearing are on there way out at the bottom of the steering column, they wanted to change me 80 to it. How easy is it to do? do i need any special tools? Thnaks in advance
Its an easy process, but slightly time consuming, it all depends how competant you are with spanners You done need any special tools but if your unsure pay the 80 If you attempt it you will have to remove the steering columm, to do this remove the following: steering wheel, plastic undertray, column shrouds, all electrical conections to switches (inc ignition), 2 13mm bolts holding the columm to the steel crossmember, and the is another 13mm at the base of the column. Once its out you can remove the bearing with a screwdriver. Make sure you disconnect the battery 1st, will take you a few hours Al
