    Hi Guys,

I had my numbersplate stolen from my car yeserday evening. Ive report them stolen to the police. Im guess the theif is planning to put my plates on a simair car.

Has anyone on here had there plates stolen before? Im wondering if it best to ask dvla for new numberplates incase i start to recive speed/parking tickets.

You could get a priviate plate, that'll sort the problem for sure.

Ive had number plates stolen from 2 of my cars before. As long as you have reported it to the police and got a crime number you should be ok as regard to speeding/parking tickets.

Same as above I had my plates stolen once and reported it. Logged the crime number on my phone in case I got stopped.

My parents had their number plate stolen at night and we didnt realise. Knock on the door early hours by the police. Plates had been put on a car to be used in an old fashioned ram raid. Must have been about 1994-1995 at a guess.

Clearly they were not “under-resourced” ;)

But really good news the outcome has been positive and quick

was impressed with the quick respone from the police. The theif that put my plate on a simair make and model car. Police said they pull him over, after a chase.
