When removing the box and engine from the G/f's mk2, I hit a snag... The inner cvs, the center piece that the rollers move in, simply wouldn't come away from the drive cups. I had all the bolts out, and started tapping them progressively harder , to no avail. I even tried a hammer and chisel, hard enough to mark them ! Same both sides. Any ideas?

The gasket will be holding it on
    Or rust

Tapping it side to side normally gets them off

If that fails some WD and a small amount of heat should do the trick
