Wasn't sure where to put this, as there isn't a technical section related to steering.

On my mk2 GTi, a problem has very recently developed. When I turn the wheel to turn left, it's fine, until about a quarter of the way, where there seems to be some resistance from something. It then requires a bit of persuasion to make it steer any further. It's hard to explain, but is proving a bit awkward as it needs a good jerk when you turn a sharper corner.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

Agreed pigbladder. Had a similar thing on my 1.8 Driver. I think one of the boots was knackered and was fouling the steering. Turned right okay but had only half the lock turning left, which was a bit tricky when you're trying to get into parking bays!

What's already been said plus check the lower column U.J. If the boot is missing from that it could've let water and crud in and started to seize it up
