I recently posted a thread about whether or not replacement of 8v head bolts was required because in the Bentley manual it only specifies that 16v head bolts must be replaced after a single use and 8v ones were ok to reuse.
Found the above on YouTube which was really interesting and explains fantastically why and when stretch bolts must be replaced.
I always thought that stretch bolts were only to be used once as they had actually stretched during the tightening sequence and reusing would then overstretch and ultimately snap a faster but this guy explains beautifully that that isn’t the case. I also thought torquing a bolt to a torque spec then with a final turn in degrees meant it would be a stretch bolt again requiring only single use. I was wrong again.
Found it really helpful so thought I would pass it on.
