I've got a Clifford Concept 50 alarm in my Mk2 GTi, and if I switch the ignition off, after around a minute the car gets immobilised, the doors lock and the alarm switches on. However, I need to replace a split fuel hose in the engine and I'll need to be working in the engine bay for a while, so what is the best way to get around my alarm problem? I don't really want to leave the engine on obviously, or leave the key in the first position - so the electrics are on etc, as I'll be prodding around near stuff. So, if I disconnect the battery negative lead? Would that help? I'm not really sure how to get around this tbh. Any help would be appreciated!
find the valet switch and put it in valet...the red light will stay on and it wont alarm if its not a really old one the remote can put it in valet too....shift twice , button one
^ Thanks for the reply, i think that it is a really old one actually, I've got some ridiculous faux wood effect fob and the alarm itself came off a Astra GTE i think. Whereabouts would that valet switch be?
if its a old one its gona be a hidden valet switch...possibly under the dash/console area? best try and downlaod a manual and see how to work it
indeed you will have a rocker type switch in the car somewhere one side goes to latched the other side goes to momentry find the swicth turn on the ignition flick the switch to the latched side turn off in-gnition red led should come on and stay on your car alarm will now be in valet and will stay that way till you repat the proccess but flicking the switch back to the middle hope this helps you out cheers ken
if you still have the serial number on the alarm brain there will be four numbers in the middle of it they should be your valet code unless someone changed it but you should not need it to put it into valet the code is for programming fatures
I've managed to find a manual for my alarm on the Clifford website, now I just need to find the switch. Also, what does the alarm brain look like? I think I've found the alarm horn/speaker thing, is that the same as the brain? I appreciate the help, wouldn't have had a clue otherwise.
with the door open it should immobilse and not arm till the door is shut could use the key to turn off the siren and let it go nuts?
Just let it self arm and lock the doors, once it's done that, just disarm and open the drivers door and then close it, of course it thinks you've got in the car and won't arm the alarm, but it will arm the immobiliser. My laserline use to do that at petrol stations, pain in the A** if you have a passanger in the car..
