    Hi Everyone,

I’ll try and keep this brief. I recently refurbished the headliner and installed illuminated mirror sunvisors which work fine. I tapped into the sunroof feed for this. Everything worked find so I reinstated the headliner. I have checked where I've tapped into the power for sunroof and everything is ok. A few months went by and then the sunroof started working intermittently. Very strange. Then it stopped working altogether. Thankfully in the closed position. I have bought two 2nd hand motors in the hope the motor had failed but the problem is still there.

So either I’ve bought two dodgy motors (unlikely) or there is another reason for the failure. I’ve read the Haynes manual and can’t see there being a fuse or relay associated with the sunroof.

    HELP!

    Cheers,

    Paul

I am not electrically minded but I would assume you have checked you have power to the motor.

    FIXED!!!!

Must have been something to do with fuse board (possible loose fuse). I inspected every fuse, no blown fuses. Must have been one not fitting properly.

I have spare sunroof motor now if the original ever does give up!

    Thanks for the suggestions folks.

    Paul

fuse 16 is also for electric sunroof in mk3 golf, and to further show haynes is useless its not used for the instruments either

Thanks Johnny. I always thought Haynes was bible for our cars but obviously not! I'll remember fuse 16 for future.

    Cheers.

Treat yourself to a cheap multimeter. Less than a tenner and you can learn how to test for voltage etc which makes problem solving easier.
If you get one I will happily give you some pointers in how to use it and the different functions. Being able to test for a voltage is the best thing you can start with

Thanks Cressa, only just seen your message. I've got one lying around somewhere but need to learn how to use it properly.
