First off I apologise, if this has been on another thread. My wifes new Jetta now had done 12000 miles, it's now the 2nd time the oil light has come on, and so far I've had to put 2-3 litres of oil in it, since new. Is this normal, because my GT TDi hardly uses any oil
Mine doesnt either as such could be something more ominous impending with the jetta what years the jetta, miles ect?
It's a 06 140bhp sport, with 12000 miles, under hard aceleration it has smoked like **** since new, even after I ran it in correctly for well over the 1st 1000 miles. It's not even as if it gets hammered, my wifes uses it 99% of the time, and she drives like a granny. It's a company car, so if somethings wrong it'll get taken back to the garage to get fixed.
vw state 1 litre of oil per 650 miles, which sounds like crap to me but thats what they say as for smoking under hard acceleration, you might find its cause your wife is pottering around in the car, this can cause the exhaust to fill up with soot, so when you give it a boot full hence the smoking if your not happy take it back to vw as its still under warrenty
Well I certainly drive it a wee bit differently to her. 1 litre of oil per 650 miles now that does sound crap. It's due a service shorty so it will get checked then.
A litre per 650 miles is their "get-out clause". I think my 150k mile valver uses around a pint every 10k. Although they do say that the new diesels take longer to settle down than the old ones. I'd not be having it, anyway - topping up your oil with a litre of fancy expensive long-life oil once a week or two? No thank you! I can only suggest you return to the dealership drunk, holding a 12-bore.
If only. The cars due a service soon, so I will be kicking up a stink then, although it's a company car, the oil I have to put in it still comes out my pocket, so not chuffed.
