ive got a 115bhp tdi and contacted CELTIC TUNING about their 300 remap with some extraordinary results, they reckon they can push 165bhp from my little iddy biddy turbo just with a remap?? anyone heard of that much before??[:D]

Yup, and they can chip the 140bhp 2 litres to 220bhp according to some places :)

Although they were restricted to 140bhp for a reason, VW couldn't economicaly build a gearbox strong enough to handle the torque.

You'd probably need to think about an uprated clutch as the torque increase will be even more than the bhp increase! My brother in law recently had his PD110 remapped, not sure on the power/torque but it's quite an increase and the (admittedly high mileage) clutch isn't very happy! :p

    as i would 165 from 115hp.

    and the brakes too!

It can be done, fella I know has a MK5 105bhp diesel mapped to 165. My Mk2 8v is just slightly quicker out of the stalls but once into 4th gear he reels me in.

It goes well up hills aswell.

115 to 165 seems just about plausible, but 140 to 220!!

The clutch should be fine, my bro i law runs a Allard tuned AMD hybrid turbo 130pd that uses the stock clutch annd its been used on track for well over a thousand mile, been to the ring and regularly towed ribs out of the water !

As for the gearbox not being strong enough...The later 6spd have hollow mainshafts to increasde the strength..Hes had no problems what the transmission whatsoever.

Bear in mind that not one has ever HAD 140bhp, every one i've ever seen or heard of dyno'd has had 155-160bhp.

Thats odd, because i have not heard of one person on ukmkivs saying this!

The most i can tell people have got, is the high 180s. Even with a AMD turbo upgrade, the power is estimated at 210hp.

seems a touch high TBH, and the 115 has the VNT15 turbo which does not like too much on upgrades, the shaft is thinner and weaker, and tends to snap[:|]

now if you had upgrade the turbo before hand I'd say go ahead, with the right intercooler

you need a bigger turbo, intercooler and injectors to hit 220, i would have thought

just don't, ask him what the cylinder pressures are and what the EGT is, seen some very scary proper test results when a major manufacturer ran a popular diesel remap on a proper test cycle. Most modern diesels are right on the edge anyway, so any more is running in "danger time"

i did, from an auction :S

it was a 115pd that had been chipped. below 2200rpm the gearbox would judder when you dished up a the mountain of torque it had.

oil temp was about 10-15* higher than my previous 115pd too

    was quick tho

Humm the clutch on my 2.0 TDI 16v is not really up to the job of the stock engine let alone a chipped one.

I have done 95k on this gearbox and clutch now mind ,5th syncro is on the way out and it judders up hills in low revs, mind you i do tend to slip the clutch a bit for 2nd gear pull aways etc

what torque figure are the quoting for this 165bhp remap , ?? 250 lbf ???

wow. you got a lotta miles on your 2.0 tdi quickly.

mine would judder at low revs in almost all gears. sad thing is, when my sis drove it, she is mechanically unsympathetic so just floored it from low revs everywhere so it was juddering everywhere.

the new buyer didnt mind for some reason. i explained that you shouldnt floor it at low revs, just go sensible with the throttle, once over 2.2krpm though, have a ball!

This is what I was wondering myself seeing that the stock ones have 236 from 1500-3600
