I've had our GTI a few days now and I've noticed the temp gauge needle only goes to the thick line between 50 & 90. It will rise to 90 when stuck in traffic but it's operating temp is the thick line. Is this normal?. Heater produces plenty of heat & other than the lack of familiarity I wouldn't raise a concern.

No thats not correct , good info in the link above , it should get to 90 quickly and stay there all day long
