Temporary cover - arghhh

Discussion in 'Insurance chat' started by Sporting Wood, Jun 5, 2008.

  1. I'm hopefully buying a car at the weekend in London which has tax and MOT but the owner currently is not insured on, so I cannot drive it using my fully comp policy. I need to bring the car back along the m25 and m4.

    I've looked in to getting temporary cover on;

    https://www2.dayinsure.com/retail/index.aspx
    http://www.norwichunion.com/short-te...ce/pricing.htm

    But it's an old Golf and they won't cover a car pre 1993. I'm sure I've heard they've got the cameras on the m25 (and possibly m4) that will pick up on uninsured cars, even if they don't I'm not sure if it's worth the risk.

    Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can do this without paying out 50 for a month or so of insurance?

    I take it you`ve asked your own insurer?

    I found that Adrian Flux (my old insurer) were more than happy to provide temporary cover, even one-day policies for situations such as yours.
