sorry i know theres been similar topics before but whats the absolute best way to get things right? this type of thing? or this? i dont fully understand this side of things 1/what should i be looking for/what do i need sensor wise etc? 2/do you get a coil, and a dizzy blank off plate? as well as the ecu... any info appreciated. cheers, neil Edited by: riley
To be honest mate if you're going to spend all that money on engine management you'd be better of binning the carbs and going injection.
cheapest method has got to be a ks1 k=star for the ign only or a superchips race icon with the std ecu setup
if your planning on coventional carbs (i.e. that look after fueling) this sort of system would be way to advanced, as its designed to look after fueling as well! You'd be better off finding a system that just looks after the ignition system, the K-star is only one type thats out there, most of the larger companies do one, check out Demon Tweeks, I'm sure they have a couple advailble. If you wanted to go the Throttle body route, where you use a set of old carbs/custom T/Bodies to control the air & have a set of injectors fitted in the inlet track, that way you can fully utilise the managment system, & get better power & better MPG (exp. Weber Alfa System)
cheers guys, thing is i want to keep the carbs really as i bought them brand new at 1k a mate runs an mbe on a vauxhall engined escort, but hes not sure of the make... where do i find an ignition only system(mbe???) neil.
