Mad 20v's Mk1 showcar turned track car
Why I chose it: a 1999 Golf mag cover car, rejuvenated to full track spec in 2004, it remains a quality benchmark to this day.
do they have to be vw builds?
dot see way they have to be
as there is a mini and a bmw already
Hamish's short-wheel base Audi Quattro race / track car
Why I chose it: scratch build and immense fabrication. Mentioned elsewhere on Club GTI previously.
My mates totally rebuilt rallye!
Why I chose it: well just look at it, think you would struggle to find a better example anywhere tbh.
Can you put a link up to the build thread please.
Steve Carroll's Race Invader
Why I chose it: Not so much as a build thread, as a sadly-missed inspiration.
PVW cover pic:
Why I chose it: the original custom racer build? Timeless, nearly a decade on.
Before you die...
Not a VW but what a thing of beauty....how far down the page do you go before you recognise it??????????????
not far... soon as you see the pick with the white body and the black sealent, friend of mines dad has one and i regognised the shape were the grill would be lovely cars
Why I chose it: My favorite, and the lowest mk1.
Number of thread views: thousands and thousands (there has been several threads over a few sites due to bans/dead links etc)
video cos alot of the pics in the thread are now dead at the start
16valver's "MK1 Racer"

Mike (pascal77uk) Audi A4 650bhp Race Car
Why I chose it: It's like CGTI's very own Touring Car

Mr G (infinity) my mk1 (03 - present)
Why I chose it: Because It's mad

max_torque's crazy RWD turbo WRC technology-laden Mk2 Ibiza
Why I chose it: I met this guy years ago at Castle Combe's Converted Car of the Year event, run by CCC. He had a RWD Volvo 440, with an engine in the back, built on his parent's driveway. Fast forward 10 years, and he was working at Prodrive, with an insight into some of the best technology available. With the Volvo long broken up, and engine in need of a home, this is a stunning one-off hybrid, which has just been fired up for the first time. An object lesson in prep, and what knowledge engineers can bring home from work and transfer into a single garage 450 bhp unrestricted.

That is just ridiculous. Pure filth.
Name: 1979 GTi Oettinger 16v build
Why I chose it: Oettinger builds are as rare as the proverbial. Exquisite attention to detail on a thread less than 4 weeks old, emptying out a parts hoard to produce Oettinger OEM+.

That is a truly amazing build!!
Project VW Scirocco 1974 Track Car
Name: 1974 VW Scirocco 16V Track Car
Why I chose it: Because it is one of the madest VWs around. Cabilis Racing Team is a VW racing team with top experience in building excellent and remarkable racing VWs. This one has got perfect and detailed job with all the expensive parts needed.
Hmmmm, wow Looks like Panayiotis? has been emptying out a kitcar parts hoard. Engine is an ABF with Mk3 type inlets on it (just 4 injector ), box is Gemini Mk3/4 kitcar. The top mounts look like Ibiza kitcar. Edit, and rear.
An awesome Mk1 chassis seamwelding and strenghthening checklist on that link.
Edit, edit: that's got to be one of the finest Mk1 Scirocco track machines ever built. It is bristleing with ideas, retro engineered. I wonder why the old throttle pedal is still there
I have heard he's got a Mk4 kitcar now also?
