I shall be picking this poverty spec up later if all goes well.
The fun shall then start with the strip and rebuild to ABF spec. The motor going in has had a port n polish, schrick 268 inlet cam, de wedged throttle body green cotton filter for some chavtastic noise, and a stealth chip.
Hopefully all shall go smoothly and she'll be up and running soonish.
Any issues and i'm sure you'll all here about it.
Still undecided on widetrack or not as there are quite a few nice sets of wheels i like in 4x100..and i do not want to have to add arch spats.

Now't wrong with that machine, except the colour. But, you can re-spray it "WHITE" or 'Massey Ferguson' "GREY", after the strip down.

The perfect car to build a proper Gti from - RHD and no ****ty sunroof.

Also, you won't need to find a rubber gear lever gaitor, which came as standard on base model GTIs!

What were you expecting from a 350 pov-speccer?

Looks at the darker end of red/burgundy in the pics to me...

And why did you do a journey in a car clearly not up to the job?

Can't believe that the colour alone put you off!

If it's not rotten, and at 105k it has a reasonable chance not to be, the body alone must be worth 350. And, as you were planning to spend money to strip and re-build it, surely a re-spray is in order?

I for one, can't see the problem!
