the replacement is sat on my drive already, i have my silver GTI which will be my car to use when i return home next year.
I have some five weeks left in the country so i'm hoping for a speedy settlement process.

Did the footwell etc stay intact?

difficult to know with out looking under the carpet, everything looks ok, had a quick peak at the chassis legs, slight compression to the drivers side and looked at the suspension towers, they look ok from what i could see.

tbh i just want to strip it for all the good bits on there, coilovers, wheels, interior, panels (doors and boot were only painted in april!) etc.

What i meant was, did the compartment do it's job & not move about or have the engine pushing any stuff into you?

looks like it held its shape well. is it caged?

    i have some spare stickers;)

no not caged, just been following the prof work out routine, my incredible arm strength held it all together;)

Mike, didn't get a chance to lift the bonnet, it wasn't moving that freely and i wanted to leave everything as is for the inspector to look at, but from looking through the gaps, the driver side mount was ok, not to sure if the block has any damage to it, not leaking only the rad was dripping. the front panel has just crushed back in on itself. see what they say.

getting more and more gutted over it as it was a very straight mk1, which would have made an awesome project for some one to continue on with.

Jon - I'm horrified at that. Hope you're soon OK, though in my experience, the pains get worse after a day or two, before they start to get better, so make sure you take care of yourself.

How sad - another Mk1 bites the dust, but at least it looked after you. [:^(]

Sorry to here about this Jon, fu*king taxi drivers I hate them, they think the rules of the road don't apply to them.

Also sorry to here the police were f*ck wits again, why is it local plods are like this, I tell you I've been in one serious road accident it gives you a totally different outlook on these situations.

As K'Reg says take this idiot for all he is worth, get a good lawyer onto it ASAP. Maybe that way you can re-build it, without it hurting your pocket to much.

But at the end of the day, glad your ok, but a wee bit sore.
