At last, they've actually started making my cage.

Very very tight fit to the roof. It's actually touching the roof brace. I wanted it a bit tighter to the B pillar, but that would have meant the door bars would have beet too far out.

I didn't particularly want a brace in the main hoop, but it's FIA regs now apparently. For added side impact protection (not that I hope that will ever be needed).

They were bending up the front bars whilst I was there too. Doing it in the cheap CDS so as not to waste the expensive T45. Once they have the shape right they do the final bend with the thin wall T45 and in it goes.

Regarding notching, They have a belt sander, the drum on the end of which in interchangeable, so they just fit one the same size as the tube they are working with. hey presto, perfectly sanded notches.

Is 820+vat a good price for fitting a multipoint rollcage into a Mk1? (1375+vat for supply and fit)

.. was that by CC or another and is VAT included ?

    For comparison:

Mk2 with Protection & Performance Ltd

    www.protectionandperformance.co.uk

6 point cage, with Diagonal, harness bar, rear strut brace, and door bars, bolted construction, powder coated black, the price will be 950 + VAT including fitting.

Mk1 Driver ... that price of 1600 total seems fair given the quote by P&P but worth checking the CC route.

Also, I recall the EVO mag `Ring` M3 cage costing ~ 1700 - somewhere in Wales, that was good value !

is it legal MSA wise converting a CC bolt in stylee into a weld in with some hoop mods and tying into shell?

Tricky. From what we've seen in the Mk2 Series, the MSA are wary of fabbed stuff and look to see if cage bars are manufacturer bits or add ins, and they will need neat welding to fend off enquiry.

If it's for the Ibiza, I would twist your arm into getting the real deal in there. Chassis stiffness can't be matched. Jacked up, my Mk1 doors open perfectly.

Hi mate that price is over the top tbh imo CC will be cheaper And the rollcentre run by MartinShort will knock a few hundreds off that i would think, they quoted about 1200 for a mk5 gti same spec as the atmr ones i think ive posted a pic of them in this thread already on page4, which is a higher spec than you will really need

Also if you want a cage at a reasonable price try SaxonMotorsport they use to run my old MK3 VR6 in the VW cup a few years ago, now building cars for the MK2 championship the chap mention 800ish for a multipoint fitted not sure if its +vat or what

My quote was from CC as well, is the just over a grand figure including VAT and was it for a bolt in or multipoint weld in? And what car?

Unfortunately that quote was from CC. Did the ATMR cages go through to the front towers? I'm guessing they would judging by the rest of the work in the pictures.

I'll see what Rollcentre can offer and may also give Saxon Motorsport a ring too, thanks for the heads up on that.
