Lolz Dave. Provided we can have the parallel thread of "Engineers, over-design, and why you have to keep them on a short leash!"

    Ah ha! Touch!

But then we would need another perpendicular thread of:

"Would Elephant Engineering Accountants know Over-Designed if it trod on them?"

Reminds me of another very true story.

I was stopped in the corridor one day by the MD, he was a Metalurgist, who asked me why the central tower of the Kilroot machine weighed more than the estimate. I quickly responded that the original estimate was undertaken in such a hurry, at his request, that the junior engineer had made a mistake, and his design would have fallen over in the first decent storm. But, more important, my design is far more elegantly designed, and comes in at half the cost!

If you did not know, engineers don't usually get on well with Metalurgists either!

    Splined M6 stud
OEM use: Mk1 Golf/Jetta/Polo carburettor rubber mount to inlet mani
VAG use: generic use where maintenance can be simplified, esp if access difficult / 2 pairs of hands needed. Alternative is to weld in hex bolts, but with studs, everything can be disassembled.
Part no: n/a - part of bigger assembly. Tap them out of used ones.

    M6 x 80, thread length 17mm. Looks high tensile, could be a job to shorten / re-cut.

    M6 threaded bar
OEM use: Mk1 Golf/Jetta/Polo carburettor inlet mani airbox supports
VAG use: generic use for good quality ?high tensile? stud.
Part no: n/a - part of bigger assembly. Take them out of inlet mani with a vice.

    M6 x 92, thread length 15mm.

Ah, could be useful, as I suspect that is M8, if not M10.
