    Hi,

I have a mk4 golf gti 1.8t (AUM). the engine light is on!!! When its cold it can be extremely jerky when pulling away. It also sometimes when at about 3000rpm feels like the throttle closes and opens again very quickly.

I had it scanned and it had a couple of fault codes: p1297, p1296.
The first is listed as a sporadic pressure drop between throttle and turbo, so I replaced the hose from intercooler to throttle, n75 valve and hoses from it. (this hasn't fixed it)
The second is a coolant system failure (I suspect it has a faulty thermostat) which I am going to replace but I don't believe to be the cause of the symptoms I listed earlier.

I would appreciate any advice that would get me closer to fixing this issue.

    cheers

    Bernard

Faulty recirc valve - Fairly common.
The other is the coolant temp sensor.

Replace to eliminate any contribution to the original problem.

Yeah I've replaced the recirc valve. Coolant temp sensor was my next port of call.

    Thanks
