eddie, the exhaust manifold is T3 flange. so ideally i'd like to find a suitable turbo.

    what about RB25 turbos?

Made a mistake of posting in your post just now, hence my edit marks...doh!:( Apologies.

RB25DET Hitachi sourced 'T3' Turbos, may seem like a good idea initially. But be warned, on the GTS-t Skyline R33 and R34 and C33/34 Laurel Medalist, that these engines are fitted as std, whenever you push the boost past 1 bar, the ceramic turbine blade, becomes detached from the shaft and shoots off into the exhaust downpipe!
So Ok to use, but will become a limitation to torque when you want to hit +++ and turn it up. In an 8v engine, due the falling torque after 4K or so, I can see this turbo being a problem.

A T34 cossie unit will be excellent if you find one.

not a massive amount, still doing research, i have also got myself another T3 from a RST and a used cheap ebay T04E both cost me almost nothing!

i have ordered a plenum from IKengineering (although their website has disapeered worryingly)

Genuine T-34 turbos are becoming relatively expensive now, and i have seen them fetch 500 used and i personally think you will find it too laggy, Id stick with a T3 but use one from a Cossie as the back housing is better (i know of a good one for sale PM me). I have run ZVH RS turbos 1.8 & 2.0 variants with T3's and they generally make 220-270bhp although on a cossie they can run 300bhp. Being in the Cosworth tuning industry i also would say that good uncracked .48 rear housings found on T3'S & T34's (some people mistakenly think T34 has a .63 rear housing but that would be a T35 as fitted standard to the large turbo Escort cosworth) are getting increasingly harder to get hold of so make sure when you do buy one that you give it a thorough check around the waste gate penny area

So the project stalled for a couple of month while we extended the house.

The order for the plenum fell thro :-(

I hope to get cracking again soon although it might end up in the bora!!
