toad ai606 door light diodes

    i am going to attempt a DIY install of a toad ai606 into my mk2 golf

    reading various guides on the net, including the one found here it mentions the need to use diodes on the wire to the door light switch

    can anyone tell me what value diodes i am supposed to use?

    also can anyone confirm it is the door - wire i use for the light and not the door + wire

    Use a device with a forward current rating of a few amps.
    1N4001 is ideal.
