Just bought my self ai606 toad alarm for 100 quid brand new, which i thought was quite cheap. anyone know about the 'Pager' add on you can buy? so if your cars being broken into it pages you upto a mile away to inform u. are they any good?
Ai606 is a good system, never tried the optional pager though I'm going to fit the 2 stage shock/tilt and 2 stage prox soon as I hate ultrasonics.
Two stage shock if the car gets a light tap it beeps, if it gets a knock it goes off, as for ultrasonics, I jus prefer two stage prox as warns if someone goes near the car, goes off if you put your arm through the window ect, good for cabbies or if you want to leave the windows open on a hot summers day and there not stupoid ugly things on the top of the a pillars
Ultrasonics should not be used on ragtops only microwaves Pagers they are cool as you may just be out of earshot but quick enough to get back to it Ian
If you fit the alarms youself do the insurance company get shirty??? Or is it still a CAT1 thatcham approved alarm to them ?
Mine was fitted by Toad's insurance replacemet arm to my jetta, I transfered it and adapted it so the imobiliser works with the diesel engine and added a few of the optional features. You can fit the system yourself depending on your level of skill as long as it fitted to Thatcham standards, then get a instalatiol test cert from a thatcham approved installer by spinning a line about you got the car with it already fitted. They are supposed to be anually tested/inspected to makensure they still work and a new cert issued anyway
I do, printed out on paper. bit tacky but perfect otherwise. let me know if you need it (pm me or email)
