Hi, I'm looking to buy a nice big tool kit and roll cab, and have been trawling through the internet looking for a good deal.

Have mainly been looking at clartke, sealey and draper tools, and have found some good deals on machine mart, but these deals dont seem to be about very long and I can never find them when I go back to look for them!

Have a reasonable budget of 3-500 quid, so was just wondering if anyone could recommend any other makes of tools or other suppliers who offer package deals?

    Cheers,

    Tim

U need the 10 or 15% offers that machine mart do every 2-3 months!! Get on their mailing list as they post out the invitations for the events.

Yeah, Snap-On are good so i hear but who can afford that? Not me.

I'm sure i bought a Clarke valve spring compressor, it was just about the worst tool i think i have ever used. I had to modify it with a hammer, a pair of pliers and some 22mm copper pipe.

In fact i'm going to chuck it out now.

Can't faulty my Halford's stuff, 1/2" rachet, sockets, hex sockets, long sockets, breaker bar etc.

Reasonable price and good enough for most people's needs.

Go check the May issue of Practical Classics on Page 14 as there's a full page ad for Halford's with a Free 10.00 voucher when you spend 50.00 ! :) and the 150 piece Pro socket set is shown on sale as 99.99 not 149.00.

So if you bought say 10 copies for 37.00 you should get an extra 100.00 worth of tools for under 40.00 or something like that.

steer clear of Clarke stuff if you want it to last or be able to take any kind of abuse (such as using big ratchets as a hammer if you can't be bothered to go & get your actual hammer  ).

Most of my decent tool are Halfords which is good stuff. Although I've got some Clarke things but they are of much less quality.

I've got Halfords Pro cabinets, 5 draw botton and two 4 draw top boxes, well pleased. They do deals from time to time, I got a socket set last time, the 150 one, which has been invaluable at times.

Halford and draper expert and britool are good. Wouldn't touch clarke. Pay the price and get some good tools. Halfords are good because when you get you hair of hit the ratchets till they break and they replace them. [:D]
Mind you i havent had any of there tools break on me!
