I might be wrong but I was sure that the alarm could be armed without
it closing the windows/sunroof fully - so that you could leave them
slightly open on a hot day for example.

It's the factory fit (Scorpion) alarm. I thought that there was the
option to turn the ultrasonics off whilst arming for that purpose.

Can anyone shed any light? Please?!

Hi James, ive got a Lazerline Cat1 with full closure onit, on mine u can simply press the second large button on the fob and the windows stop where u press it and the ultrasonics are disabled, i recon you should try and get the model number of the alarm and get the manual off the internet if that doesnt work it could well be programable, i take it the alarm is the standard vw 1 same 1 thats fitted to a mk3 gti colour concept, im pretty sure u can stop the windows onit tho it was about 6 years ago i had the car,

    Hi, thanks for that.

Yes it is the standard one factory/dealer fitted to the car. I've only
just got it working again by finding a remote fob for it. So I know its
    Scorpion 918 (998 VAG 153).

Have tried to find a user manual or such info on the net but no result.
I hoped someone on here might have a user manual or some info they
could copy to me but haven't had any response to that post.

I'll try pressing the other button on the remote whilst it is
locking/arming/closing windows, but other times this button only sets
the alarm going - seems to be like a panic feature.

Is there a slider switch on the alarm fob?

I know that the slider allows you to turn off the ultrasonics, but I
still don't know how to stop it winding the windows up. Do you know?

Not sure if this will be of any help to you but I have a conlog system with a cat2 immob added later. To switch the ultrasonics off and leave the windows/sunroof open

    1. open the drivers door (and leave open) press the button on the remote - indicators flash once but no noise
    2. close the door and press the remote again - indicators flash and alarm beeps as per normal setting, but if you have left it with windows/sunroof open and ultrasonics off.

It resets to all working next time you have driven the car and press the remote to activate it all.

This may only work with the conlog and I cannot remember which specific model I have got, but it does state this as the correct sequence in the instruction manual.
