Hello there people. A little while ago I asked where is the best place to sell my mk5 and the consensus seemed to be autotrader. I have had it on there for a little while now and have not got any where near the level of interest that i'd expected, so is there any chance that any of you could critique my advert please? I'm not sure if there is a glaring mistake in my advert or if you think ive got it priced wrong? I could really do with selling it now so any advice you guys can give would really be appreciated. Thanks!!

How long is a little while?

I would have stuck it on Pistonheads to be honest. Auto Trader is great for run-of-the-mill motors but for something a little more specialist like a GTI Mrs Miggins isn't going to be interested.

Certainly one of the cleaner ones I've seen for the money, but there seems to be two distinct types of Mk5 GTI people look for currently; dead cheap with high miles and late, very low mileage, high spec examples. Yours is in the middle ground IMO which may be where the issues lie.

Funnily enough yours is exactly in the right price bracket, spec etc as my other half wants to buy, but she's still nowhere near saving enough money. I guess you'll just have to stick it out, but there's certainly nothing wrong with it or the advert as far as I can see!

I think it's well priced for its age.

I bought one a couple of months ago, a 94,000mile 55 reg for 4200. As above I was after a Mk5 from the cheaper end of the scale, my search was for a 3 door upto 5500 so I never came across any 08 reg cars. Maybe SimplyEd is right with what he says about middle ground, yours could be up against slightly older but more desirable Edition30's.

Thanks for the replies chaps, I guess I just need to stick with it. I've got someone coming tonight, so I'll see how that goes. I did actually list it on pistonheads but got very little interest, although I had it up for 7.5k so it may have been a little too high.

Be extremely sorry to see it go anyway, much better car than the CC that i have had to take for work!!
