I'm just looking at an advert for the Seat Leon FR, with 16v engine. Output is quoted at 211PS, which is the frst time its caught my eye. Is the Mk6 Golf GTI the same? The number that sticks in my mind is 200PS / 197 bhp for the Mk5 GTI TSI.
The EA113 16v is the old exh cam belt driven, engine, found in the MK5 GTI. The EA888 16v is the new engine with a chain driving both intake and exhaust cams found in the MK6 GTI. A smaller version of the EA888 is a 1.8T. I first saw and drove the EA888 2.0 16v in the new Scirocco.
I have the 1.8 TFSI engine, it is very smooth and refined. Peak torque from 1500-4500rpm or something like that. Only 170bhp but goes well for what it is, can be remapped to 220bhp and 190lbft I think. The 2.0TFSI is a lot more powerful on the whole though I think. There is an earlier version of the 2.0 which only produces 180bhp but has more torque than the 1.8.
The Golf R is 270PS, the 1400's are around the 160-170PS mark There doesn't seem many fails with the 1.8s or 2.0's
I dont think thats correct. The Mk5 GTI used a K03 turbo, but was different from the earlier 1.8T unit. The 210ps Scirocco/Mk6 engine uses an IHI turbo. And my 1400 is 180ps standard!
