Components vary based on how powerful the engine is desired to be and are not limited to the ABF engine. Any NASP EA827 16v motor can be done.

    In general, you need:

    • A suitable turbocharger
    • A suitable exhaust manifold
    • Turbo down pipe
    • Means of lowering the compression ratio to reduce the likely hood of knock on pump fuel
    • Evaluate the engine internal components for durability and uprate as necessary
    • water air or air to air intercooler
    • Boost run with appropriate pipe sizes
    • Depending on boost run a different intake manifold arrangement
    • Uprated injectors depending on increased fuel flow and or injection rail
    • Fuel pump
    • Uprated PCV system
    • Engine control ECU and custom engine mapping.
    • Suitable exhaust system
    • Air filtration

In 2006 the WOLF R debuted and since then several contributors have created DIY 16v turbo motors largely based on the same ideology.

You can build a similar engine, to be durable and deliver your expectations, if you possess sufficient skill and resource. It is not a slap dash operation mind and if you are desperate to have a turbo'd MK2 Golf, then I suggest a complete 20vT conversion.

All my information originally came from the Wolf R built by Eddie.

Since then, several others have been built.

    Gurds 16VT

Sparrow 16VT Built by Stealth, but still good info.

    Nige 16VT

There was another, but I can`t find it right now. Anyway, there should be enough information for you to get a good idea of the work involved, some pitfalls and the possible finished products

    To the OP,

Those examples shared from Nige's post are also routinely tracked and the net sum of engine, powertrain, suspension and driver, make for very rapid vehicles at the track.

I should point out that sparrow's was built by Stealth Racing, where as Gurds and Nige are DIY efforts.

Good luck with the 225ps 20vT lump. They do go very hard when tweaked properly as well.

Varies on net sum of hardware but for a K04 type car 260-280bhp@6000rpm with near 300lbft or more at 3800-4200rpm. Usually run around 1.5bar or so. More with a better turbo, cams ETC.
