generally speaking its cheaper to turbo a car than charge it,

depends what you want out of it really, noise, originality, major power etc.

I'm a fan of supercharging myself. Very good power gains and easy to take car back to standard if selling or anything. although turboing makes great sense for easy power

    Both forced induction(air) but,

turbo : forced induction powered by cars exhaust gas
s/c : forced induction powered from cars crank pulley

in laymans terms[:D], cant be @rsed to expand[:$]

VR6 superchargers are bastar-dised turbo`s normally, so you don`t really get the benifit of a s/c (low down grunt) and a turbo would also outperform it.. Unless you went lysholm but no-one has yet?

Simple answer now (slightly expensive though)

    Do both!!!

Supercharge for low down revs, plus no lag...

and higher in revs let the boost from the turbo kick!

    Makes sense really

No point these days. With a ceraminc roller bearing turbo the lag won't be all that noticable.

Sorry got to agree with MATTW! if you can afford a cerramic bearing turbo kit you can afford a turbo fit with a super charger. if you look in PVW there's always adverts for them. go for it! keep us posted!

Time to talk some sense here ...
If you can't afford a ceramic bearing turbo you CAN NOT afford a dual boost setup (Supercharger + Turbo) either.
It's not all that simple and i have yet to see a setup made by anyone that actually can back it up with pictures, specs and a dynosheet making it all worthwhile.

As for costs, think about the following:

    - Dual tubing, hoses, clamps
    - Dual BOV/bypass, depending on setup
    - Always an issue concerning space, location of things like an alternator, A/C pump, etc etc.
    - How do you 'join' the boost from both the turbo and supercharger, you don't want the charger to just feed the turbo and then become a bottleneck or air is pushed out (lost) through one of the 2 air feeds, and so on ... and so on .....
    - Supercharger engange/disengage science

    And the list continues ....

Yeah, turbo VR6 engines are extremely rare [xx(] [xx(] [xx(] [xx(]

Do whatever fits your budget and needs, EVERYTHING has been done before and if your looking to be original in the VW scene you'd better start winning the lottery cause it's practically impossible to stand out these days.

best thing about turboing a vr6 is that it takes very little to squeeze 400bhp reliably
