How would i go about checking if a turbocharger is geniune or a chinese copy for example? Any help appreciated. The one in question is a garrett gt3076 journal bearing if that helps
Hard to tell sometimes! other times not so hard as compressor housing is made from 2 halves and badly glued together! Best bet would be to give it to a specialist to check it over for you
Thanks for the help sambo. I don't have a reason to believe that is a copy but i want to be sure. I might send it over to a specialist then. Would you recommend someone?
To be honest mate any turbo specialist shoud be able to examine it for you. Andy Nichols that used to work for AET turbos is good and has alot of experience but he lives in Scarborough i think. Maybe best of looking up a local specialist? They will probably have a look for free
