I've heard of some folk running 45s without return lines at all. The engine I'm getting came from a car where the return was from the pressure regulator but I've also seen a return line running direct from one of the carbs?

Are there any particular merits in either method?

    TIA

    i don`t either.

due to the low fuel pressure they aren`t needed, the pressure just has to be high enough to keep the float bowls full. any excess pressure isn`t enough to start any leaks.

i have 40s with no return hose, aparantly the return will stop the fuel heating up by to much in the lines as there is a constant cycle of fuel.

Why would the fuel heat up?

I've never used a fuel return - always best to use a pressure regulator, otherwise you can bust gaskets.

The best way to set them up is to have a solid state pump into a bowl type regulator then have a T-piece which goes to both carbs - stops one robbing fuel off the other.

Obviously if your car used to be fuel injected then you might use a step down regulator which does have a fuel return, followed by a bowl type regulator.
