If the wheels are 6Jx14 i.e 6" wide, then you don't really want anything wider than 195.

You can get Toyo Proxy T1-S in a 195/55/14 fitment which will fit.

Toyo also do a 195/45/15 if you want a much lower profile tyre.

    It should have been 195/45/14!

    I don't like 195 on 6 inch rims, I find them sketchy.
185s are fine, depends if you want handly or looks.
I went from 185 on 15x6J to 195 and swapped them back within a week

    I've got a set of 195/50/15's on a 6J rim, and a set of 195/55/14's also on a 6J rim.

The tracking was a little out when I switched from a 185 to 195 tyre, but once the tracking got realigned they worked and gripped really well. (Toyo's T1-S's)

I put 195/55/14 on a standard 14in steelie (which are either 6J or 6.5J, I can't remember) without any problems.

They were Bridgestone Potenzas, the best tyres I have ever used.

I'd agree on the Potenzas, I bought a set when they first came out on the recommendation of a mate who's a tyre specialist and haven't looked back [:^:]
