    Hi,
Just wondering what you think about using some silicone in the grooves for the glass & the window edge of a rubber window seal?
Would it give a better chance of getting a watertight seal?

Silicone sealant is just the best invention ever!

Use it where ever you can!! :)

But seriously, it would do a good job of sealing them.

I've heard it's really good for that, but bad if you need to do any paintwork in the surrounding area...

I did this on an old Rover front wind-screen once. It was one of those glued in windscreens.

The solicone/solvent reacted with the plastic laminate centre layer in the glass and a white patch appeared and was spreading into the main glass by about 2 1/2 inches.

    Looked awfull....

but would be OK on toughened glass instead of laminate.

I asked another guy & he told me that silicone can react with some paint finishes & metals etc.
I'm going to leave it out I think, will use something else if I do end up with leaks.

i wouldnt use silicon...theres a proper sealer for that..its black gooey stuff that never goes off,so that when the body moves and flexes it moves with it...its usually called window mastic...any paint place like brown brothers will sort it...make sure they dont give you bonded window adhesive
