    Hi all,

Please forgive if I have posted here incorrectly. I thought there may have been an introductory thread and If there is I have missed it.

Am a fresh puppy here amongst all you vets and I'd just like to write a hello.

Joined your club approx 13 mins ago and loving the links already. Great pics and top advice embedded amongst some great threads here.

I am no newbie with Golf GTIs as have owned many in the past. Three MkIs, three MKIIs but no MKIIIs or above.

I currently have MKII F plate, 8v, 87k, 5dr, red, FSH, completely std apart from alloys. When I took her to the M11 she was unbelievable! Felt like there was a Wiltshire brick underneath the pedal, so much torque it was unreal. Amazing.

She even has the Panasonic MKII tape deck and I don't intend to switch to CD or likewise. I like my VDubs std.

One owner from new, pensioner and the car had never been over 60MPH. Purchased this babe at the equivalent cost of a night out in Chesterfield.

Passenger and rear doors have never been used. He replaced wheels as one had developed a crack. The only modification I have made is the grille. Still have the silver badged grille but, replaced with black badged grille as this was cracked where some bonehead tried to rip the badge off.

Will show some pics shortly if this is OK.

    Many thanks,

    Davey

PS - Thanks for allowing myself to your club.

Welcome meister, if you like 'em standard then the black badge not only looks better but is the correct part too, chrome only came on the 'luxury' spec golfs such gl i think, the sporty ones always had no chrome

    Welcome Friend
Your car sounds just like my totally original '84 Mk2 GTI 5 door......One elderly owner who had passed on and left the car in the garage.......I bought it from the estate agent who had been instructed to GET RID by the surviving sprogs, who had no time for an OLD BANGER......Fantastic buy.......The old chap had even had it regularly serviced by GTI Engineering....

    Hi Guys,

Many thanks to all for words of welcome.

This chap is selling a set of teardrops for thirty notes so, am off there this wknd to have a look and hopefully pick up a few more goodies whilst there. Tells me they're 'presentable' and all centre caps present so, I'll just have to see.

When I've got them on and given her a polish will post a few pics. She's not perfect but, for the money, I musn't grumble. She serves me fine and am more than happy with her and this is all that counts really and my aim is not to throw too much money in.

Mr GTI - I think you're right. Silver badge just doesn't go somehow.

David - It's a nice fuzzy feelin' when you pick up a bargain like you did. Do you keep her std or, made any mods?

    Thanks to all.

    Stay safe,

    Davey
