Hi all, i have the latest version of vag com whichc i believe to be 409.1-s and i recently bought a ODB II usb cable off ebay to use with my laptop etc, upon installing everything i have been told that the usb cable will not work at all, it has to be a com port cable, im not impressed, have i been conned or is there a ways i can get it working. thanks, Marc
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/archives.html download the twin-usb version, plug the cable into the car and your usb port, turn ignition on, select the options tab, check the usb tab, check the ' force dumb mode' tab in the centre, press test, - it should find your cable then save.
thank you very much mackteck i thought i was out of luck with the thing, ive done all you said i just need to go try it with car now. mcuh appreciated mate thanks, macca
Did everyone on here purchase their Vag com? I brought a USB cable from ebay, which also came with a CD which has Vag com on it! - will I have any problems using it, and is it easy to use (vag com) ? Dan
When you buy the USB cables you get the software and drivers on the CD. It's still USB but it installs it as a virtual serial device so the laptop thinks the USB cable is actaully a serial cable. You then assign it to a COM port 1 to 4 and match it up with the settings in vag com 409.1
when i bought my cable the cd never showed up. so ive installed it off rosstech site. keep getting the message, no response from controller. what a cafuffle
If you get the no response from controller message it's either because you haven't switched the car ignition on before scanning or you havn't selected the correct COM port
Make sure you've got 409.1 mate! Mine did that for a while, until I realised I'd installed the wrong version!
From the ross-tech website http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/archives.html Download the 'FOR MODERN SERIAL INTERFACES' version 409.1 mate
Cheers Bud... will look in to that... are you any good with VAG com... I might need a hand once I get using it?
Loads of people on here are good with it! Just ask the questions and you're bound to get the answers!
grabing muilply MVB the main benifit, able to cover all the VW range upto current being able to have all the adaption channels open and fully supported by ross tech if problems arise
ive just downloaded the different version to what i had. i used to have the twin usb version, but had problems with it. ive got modern interfaces one now. with this i also get a thing called vag-scope. wtf is this, its like a blacknwhite graph
