Last month.... Pulled up behind car that was waiting to turn right, looked in rear view mirror and said oh ****, and then bang. Hit by a Suzuki carry van, did more obvious damage to van than it did to golf. It was quite a hard hit, but seemed to only done minor damage. Sent it to bodyshop following day, got it back week later. It had the tailgate repaired and bumper replaced.
It had actually damaged the bumper so much that it made the tailpipes look too long for car, but once new bumper fitted and other bits repaired, it was back to normal
