cheers russ appreciat this its goin to help alot if i go ahead with it, i c we have somthin in comin my 8v is oak green just had a respray it needed it cheers chunk
used to have one. it was the worst purchase of my life, The engine is awesome IF you can get it to run correctly but high mileage engines have SERIOUSLY expensive problems with the timing chain tensioners and get head gasket leaks which corrode the block. Mine never ran right and problems are hard to trace especially when the engines been bunged into a car that was never designed for it; leading to lots of electrical problems. My advice is go for a tuned 2.0L 16v as its hard to get much more than standard power from the vr6 anyway and they are nose heavy and the gearings very high on the vr6 - leading to bad handling and slower acceleration than expected. They sound great but the fuel consumption is great as well !
i sense some people aren't convinced about the *mk2 vr's are crap, slow, and don't handle* thing then?
OK if you only wan't to go in a straight line , even the Corrado VR6 is nose heavy and worse handling than the 4 cylinder versions, the VR6 lump is 100kg heavier and sits further forward for gods sake! David.
I certainly read in Autocar years ago that the Corrado VR6 was regarded as "one of the best front wheel drive cars of all time" - not sure if that refers to the handling though or just as a car overall.
