Can anyone give me a rough idea of what it will cost in insurance for a Mk3 convertible with a VR6 engine (MJ's cab. I am 31 and have 5-6 years no claims with no points on my license. Anyone that has any VW that is modified with a VR6 engine in could at least give me an idea of what I am looking at. Cheers
Depends where you live. If it's the Bronx, then I would expect it to be quite a bit more than if you lived on the Isle of Skye.
I live in Bridlington, a very quiet coastal town in East Yorkshire. Pretty good for insurance in the past.
Im paying 660 with direct line 6 points 2x sp30's 5yrs NCB 23 yrs old Parked On Drive Fully Comp Own Name Bargin! Couldnt beleive my eyes when I saw the quote on the screen!
I'm paying 450 fully comp on my '97 VR6. Mod's are koni adjustables and eibach springs. Max NCB (protected), no points or claims, 43 years old, small village in Yorkshire. Was paying 400 with Sainsbury's but they refused to insure me after mod's carried out.
Id try HIC or Greenlight , theyre good for modded cars... places like direct line dont like modifications
350 with Liverpool Victoria. Uprated: shocks, springs, RB's, mounts, bushes, VSR and a few other bits and pieces to the engine. 5yrs NCB.
So far I've been quoted 810 with my current insurer High Perormance, and 585 with Brentacre who seemed to really know their stuff.
Insurance for a cab is high, I know this obviously I have one I mean I think mine is grp 16 or 17. And that is unmodified avantgarde. So that is as high, or nearly as high as a standard vr6. Drop in a massive Vr6 engine into a cab and insuring it seems either highly unlikely, or highly expensive. Getting a qoute on a standard vr6 is a bit poitnless. Sorry im im sounding melancoly, just a bit drunk.thats my 2p
