Don't buy a VR if you're worried about MPG even tho my MFA does say about 20MPG at the minute average :) :)

i don't find it that bad at all....on motorways journey's i get upto 36, which is better than i would have got from my old 1.2 punto at same speeds. goes down a fair bit if you really boot it, and is less around town, but i wouldn't say its that bad. certainly a lot better than my mates S3.

I get 185 miles to a tank on my vento and i think it's the same size tank as a golf, but then again, i have a company fuel card :)

My driving is a fair mix of town and motorway etc, probably a bit biased to town driving. Over the 3000 miles I've had mine it's averaging about 24mpg according to the MFA. Of course it all depends how you drive it, but I wouldn't bother buying a VR if I wasn't going to enjoy it!

    FACT

You do not buy a VR6 if you even might be slightly worried about your MPG. It will be quite poor.

I'm only getting about 23mpg in my mk2

very true....but i actually think the fuel economy is superb considering the size/performance of the engine.
