Hi Had my VR6 for a few months now it has developed a annoying fault , when driving along at a constant speed in 5th say and medium speeds 30-40mph on very light throttle it stutters a bit , its fine under power and at 80mph constant speeds. It also struggles to idle now but manages to sort itself out after a 10 seconds or so Fitted a set of new plugs today made very little if any difference. VAG tool showd G28 engine speed sensor "No signal" and Lamda control Regulating limit exceeded sporadic fault. Now the lamda fault i get every couple of weeks but the g28 is a new one. I cleared the faults and drove it for 1/2 hour none came back. Should i just changed the G28 and see what happens what does the car do if they fail ?? cheeers Tris
If you do the diag without the engine running it will always bring the engine speed sensor-no signal as a fault because it isnt giving a signal cos the engine isnt running! If you start it up it will the fault code wont be there-this is normal(ignore it!)You need to check the wiring to the lambda sensor first, make sure you have a 12volt feed when the engine is running and a good earth.
Oh by the way, that engine speed sensor costs nearly 100 from VW,i nearly made the same mistake and changed it!!
AHh nice one , yes i did have the ignition on and the engine off . Ooops .. Oh well i shall sort my Lambda problem out then .. Thanks
hi there. im having the same problem with the lambda probe Lamda control Regulating limit exceeded sporadic fault the car is runing rich... and when i erase the fault the car will run nicely for a week or so. have you fixed yours dUff?? any sugestions?
never heard that one, the fault is stored as and when the fault occurs, you can test the system with just ign on and no fault should be stored
Had a similar fault on my OBD2 VR6, changed the fuel pump relay and it cured it. I should really have tried the above first but instead replaced the coilpack (had a slight crack anyway) and got genuine VAG ignition leads/platinum plugs and an ECU relay. Quite an expnesive lesson learnt there! Tris, how come you haven't updated your site for so long?
