My brother wants an uprated air filter for his VR6. Should he go for panel or cone? Do the cone ones just suck in hot air as well (no good).

What do people recommend panel or cone?

If the best is cone, which ones come with heat shields and cold air feeds?

    Thanks

hi used a HKS green mushroom filter off a nissan sunny pulsar GTIR on my mk2 golf VR6, i punched a hole through the crumple zone on the chasis leg which is held on by three spot welds enabling me to build a cold air feed down to bumper since doing this mod my oil temp on MFA never goes past 94. i found this combination the best after trying a few different filters out.

the filter is not cheap tho 180 from my local accessory shop(STORM MOTOR SPORT- specialise in jap cars).

If you want cold air feed then just move the carbon canister and feed a pipe thro there on a mk3......but people either use a BMC CDA which is a cone filter with a carbon sheild round it, like me, or a Ram Air filter which is a huge foam air filter

I've bought the Carbonio CAI for my mk2 VR6, the engine isn't in yet, but it looks trick..

    http://carbonio.com/vw/mk3.php

Ordered from the link on that page was delivered within about 3 days IIRC.
