Anybody had this happen? Is this why VWM went from 109mm to 111mm?
Pic shows casing has cracked 100% around, now in 2 pieses.
    Anybody got a casing spare?
Or a spare VWM plate diff they are willing to sell, either size?
    Long shot I know.....
    Thanks
    Jon
Rest of diff and gearbox in mint condition, luckily

Been unable to source any parts, so far, so its a gripper or wavetrack unit that looks most likely
    to be purchased.
Not a big fan of the kaaz as the casings appear quite flimsy

Just a quick thanks for all the help and tips people have given me and Jon on this. We have now been put in contact with Andjez (hope that is the correct spelling) at Gemini Transmissions who designed the VWMS gearboxes originally for VW. Incredible place to visit and fascinating people who work there, Andjez has an immense memory and experience so hopefully there will be a positive outcome on this fingers crossed.

In the short term Jon's AX car is running a gripper diff in a different box which held together for the first event so far.

Jon's old autocross/rallycross Mk1 is now in the safe hands of Matt (new owner: Rfkdemon) I'm helping out with some technical handover during initial competitions.
So far, apart from the above broken casing, it's going well..
The car and driver have a bright future, roll on mk1's continue competing, not some high value restored ornament....

I was contacted initially but didn’t hear anything else. there’s a chance I could have done something but had no contact after Jon.

Always good to hear from you, your expertise is legendary. As it happens, there may be a way of getting a replacement
part, rather than a repair. Matt is running with this now, he has shared the contact for future reference.
As it happens, my CR MS gearkit has some wear on second, so we are going to rebuild both boxes up here.
    Long live the mk1

Unfortunately I have had no luck with Gemini but they were super helpful none the less in looking through their old stock and a useful contact to know.

@Hotgolf I have been told that you are the guru of VW boxes, is there any option you could suggest? I would appreciate any help/ advice massively!

Jon has taught me a great deal so far but I still have a long way to go until I can reach my aim of competing self sufficiently.

If anyone is interested I might start a competition thread of exploits event by event?

I'll certainly be interested to read, and I'm sure lots of others would be too
